I was reading the threads given about my question regarding Saturn and the moon and ego.
As far as I can understand, the moon is the lens chosen by the soul to reflect itself (scale: ocean to a wave)
The moon is the person we are within our self. Our inner world. Who we are when we are alone. It represents the “I am” (who we feel we are inside of ourselves).
I’m assuming since it correlates to emotions, that our emotional body also adds to the feeling of who we are.
I keep coming back to the same question about the sun. And I’ve read the forum in regards to the sun but for some reason it doesn’t click.
Self actualization to me is actualizing the self. As in solidifying who we are. I thought the sun was who we are but now I see that the moon is (truly the soul,, but I’m trying to stick to the more conscious part of us). Is the sun the part that solidifies who we feel we are (moon) and helps us project that image? Is there a thread that goes as deep into the sun as the threads given on the moon? I always get stuck on the sun.
Also everything I read on the moon makes me think of mars. How the soul (Pluto) gets physically projected as mars (maybe I misunderstood??)
My assumption is that Pluto (soul) gets fractured into a multitude of these lenses (each planet/house/sign) and moon/4/cancer is who we are inside, more specifically who we feel (emotions) we are inside and mars is more our instinctual nature. How we act who we are based on our instincts
Couple more questions:
- is there a part of the chart that represents the projection of who are into the physical world? Is that the persona or descendant? Or is it MC?
Is there a reason why the sun as a skipped step seems vastly diff than the other skipped steps? Why is a sun the potential to make a skipped step while the others are something relative to the past.
There’s something that happens within us when who are (moon) isn’t acceptable in society. Sometimes we fake the projection to fit in but sometimes we repress/suppress that person and become someone else. Sometimes this new person gets distorted as well. There seem to be layers to the ego (some would call these parts a shadow).. is there anything explaining this in EA?
Thank you again for the moon explanations! It really took me on a rabbit hole but I think I’m getting it.. just a lot of questions come up in the process
:)
Hi Dominikas,
There is a book titled "Essays in Evolutionary Astrology" where in the chapter "The Planetary Method of Evolutionary Chart Analysis" goes over the questions you are asking. That chapter is an old JWG lecture he gave.
That is where I would start, if you don't already have this book.
Here is a little from that chapter in the book regarding the Sun:
" ....the Sun specifically correlates to how we are integrating and giving purpose and meaning to our current life experience. So in essence we are describing an evolutionary transition in our A B list (Pluto, the lunar sn, its ruler, the moon, and the lunar nn and its ruler, along with the PPP), an evolutionary transition from past to the current life. The Sun is now going to show you how that is integrated and given purpose and meaning in the context of the current life". -JWG
The Sun is a filter for the chart, every experience that you have will be filtered through that Sun in order to actualize the bottom line of your or anyone's chart.
As an example, I have the Moon in Libra in the 6th and a Sun in Capricorn in the 9th. Every emotional experience I have had that has been extreme (Moon in Libra) or that has been about improving upon these extremes (Moon in the 6th) has been filtered through my Sun in Capricorn in the 9th. Essentially, I have been actualizing my chart through becoming my own authority and reconnecting with my authenticity and personal truths (Sun in Capricorn/9th) and have learned how to do so through the extreme experiences of abandoning myself in the past (Libra Moon in the 6th).
This is to just give you a little bit of an idea of how the Moon and Sun work within the Pluto Paradigm without going into my whole chart, as that is not part of the rules on the message board. Hopefully that simple example helps though.
Maybe utilize a chart of a well-known person on this thread so that you can practice chart interpretation and receive feedback so you can expand on your understanding. That way it's more tangible and it also gives others an opportunity to learn from it.
Much Love,
Jordyn
Thank you so much Jordyn!
This was very helpful. I’ve heard of this essays book before and I’ll add it to my list!
Sometimes I get stuck on the vocabulary that astrologers use. Sometimes it takes me a few definitions to get the right meaning .
DoesJWG talk about why the sun skipped step is different than the other skipped steps ? The others seem to be a past life thing whereas the sun seems to be a potential future skipped step (as I understand it!)
Hi Dominikas,
I would refer back to your post where Ari answered this because he also added some of JWG’s own words.
You are correct in the sense that it is where one can create a skipped step in the next lifetime. It also reflects there have been some issues regarding the lunar nodes and their rulers and in this lifetime they are meant to actualize those nodes through the Sun.
Much love,
Jordyn
Thanks for writing that Jordyn! I posted back on my previous thread. I think it’ll be helpful if I say my understanding out loud instead of only asking questions. Maybe then someone can catch where I go wrong or if I’m on the right path. I’m working on my clarity in communication.
