Hi Rad and All,
Usually when I think of paradoxical charts I would think of the sign conditioning a house that is its polarity (Libra on the 1st, Virgo on the 12th, ect.). I have been thinking a lot lately about those who have Mars in the 12th, Mars in Pisces, or Aries on the 12th (obviously Mars would be the ruler falling in a particular sign and house). To me this is polarizing in its own right. On the one hand you have something wanting to culminate (Pisces) and on the other something want to be born or a new cycle to start (Aries). This is antithetical and paradoxical in nature and not talked about enough, in my opinion. It is very peculiar to me.
Can we go over Mars in the 12th more in depth? I know from the Pluto 2 book that this can be a soul working through sadomasochism, a soul who is wanting to release and culminate any separating desires, and also, a soul who might have desires to become an agent of God. Is there more to add to this in a general sense? What needs to be understood about this placement from an archetypal sense?
Can we also look at Mars in Pisces and how that can present differently depending on the house it falls in, and the differences between that placement in comparison to Mars in the 12th?
I also think that Aries on the 12th can be a conundrum. Can you speak to this in a general sense?
I know we have to look at the totality of the chart, but I do want to "zero" in on this archetype, and how it presents archetypically. This to me is a paradox. Would this be accurate in its own right?
Much love and gratitude,
Jordyn
HI Jordyn
For the new cycle to fully begin the Soul needs to culminate any existing desire that is preventing it from doing so. Such desires have either been acted upon before that it no longer needs for its ongoing evolutionary journey that it is still hanging onto and/or desires that have remained unacted upon, yet exist, within the Soul. The need to culminate can be as simple as ‘I don’t need this or that desire anymore’ or simply acting the desire out until such a time that the Soul can honestly say ‘I am done with this’.
The new cycle symbolized by Aries on the 12th House cusp, the location of Mars by house, sign, and aspects, and it’s North and South Nodes by house, sign, and aspects to them can begin in a halting or preliminary way, like planting seeds, as the need to culminate the desires from the past is occurring. The same is true for the Mars in Pisces relative to the house it is in, the aspects that it making to other planets, and the location of the North and South Nodes of Mars by house, sign, and the aspects it is making to other planets.

How Mars in the 12th or Pisces manifests is totally dependent on the individual Soul: it’s entire evolutionary and karmic history, and its station of evolutionary development: the four natural evolutionary stages.

To do this we would have to examine and compare individual charts/Souls. Each case, the individual chart, would be specific to each Soul and not apply to all Souls, or any Soul, that has the same symbols in their own chart. It is only important from an EA point of view to understand the core archetypes, as above, to understand the specific manifestation of how those archetypes are being lived out in each chart that has them.

I also think that Aries on the 12th can be a conundrum. Can you speak to this in a general sense?
The conundrum is reflected in the evolutionary need to culminate while at the same time begin some new.

It can certainly be a paradox until the Soul understands why it has come to this place in its evolutionary journey: the need to culminate what must be culminated so that the new cycles it wants to initiate can begin fully. It is this conscious understanding that the Soul can integrate around in such a way that what is needing to happen is not perceived as a paradox at all.
To 'zero' in how it manifests in any given birth chart is to undertand the totality, the entire EA paradigm, in each chart in which these symbols are found.
God Bless, Rad
Hi Rad,
Thank you, that helped. I really appreciate you reminding me of Mars' trinity and to look at that as well.
I am finishing up an analysis on the undistorted masculine thread, but once I do, would you mind if I pulled a chart or two to go over where there is Mars in the 12th? Jonbenet Ramsey is one that comes to mind. There are also a bunch of famous people that I know who have that. But Jonbenet's chart is interesting because her Mars is in Taurus sextile its ruler. Then Mars is square the ruler of Venus. Mars is also trine Uranus/Neptune/Saturn in Capricorn (8th and 9th house placements). I haven't looked at the Mars trinity within her chart though. I do have questions pertaining to hers because she was murdered so young and her chart reflects that, even with Mars' placement. Would that be appropriate?
Much Love and Gratitude,
Jordyn
Hi Jordyn,
I like how you're analyzing the chart of JonBenet Ramsey and bringing that to the forum for discussiuon. Having knowledge of pop culture phenomenon - whether that be people, places, or things from the past or present, brings out the natural curiosity of Gemini within all of us. It makes an astrologer more relateable and thus more approchable.
I have my natal SN in Aries in my 12th House (Aries Rising). With the SN of my natal Mars being in Scorpio 8th House conjunct natal Uranus, I've almost killed myself many times - both accidently and intentionally - and somehow I've come back to life. Thank God!
