"EVOLUTIONARY DISCREPANCY. This is the situation that, in the context of a relationship, one person, in evolutionary sense, is more evolved than the partner. This then creates the dynamic wherein the one who is more evolved feels that they are always leading the other one by the hand forwards. The one who is more evolved, because of being more evolved, has the capacity to understand the other one, because they have been there. The one who is not as evolved, who has not been where the other one is, has a hard time truly understanding the individuality of the other one. And this creates its own unique problems, called frustration. It creates a situation wherein the one who is more evolved simply feels not only not understood, but that their core needs cannot be met. So then the question becomes, why is it that they are in this sort of relationship? Each case will have its own unique answer. That is where you have to play the role of astrological detective. The typical and common answer is called karmic obligation. Then the challenge becomes, what is the nature of the obligation, and why?

Q: If in an Evolutionary Discrepancy situation, transiting Pluto comes up to conjunct one of their Venuses, could that then blow up the situation?A: Yes. What you are really asking relates to separation of relationship. This is an important question. There are two ways for people to terminate a relationship. One creates karma, one does not. One way to separate is what is called a natural parting, or the famous Y in the road. What this means is that two souls reach a point in time where no more real growth can occur in the relationship in the context of intimacy. The other way is what is called an arbitrary parting, meaning there is still growth potential, and yet one or both partners say “The heck with it, I am moving on anyway.” This then creates karma, that which is unresolved. So in your question, i.e. Pluto transiting Venus, there is no real way to know which one is which. Again, you have to observe the couple. Because it can equal "natural", or it can equal "arbitrary", depending on the existing context.

Q: - ? A: It does not necessarily have to be a situation where both people have conscious awareness of this fact. And one can have it and the other one not. But when that is in fact the operational dynamic, it doesn't matter if both have it. In my experience of counseling generally one partner will have it and one will not. And the one that will not is typically the dependent partner, who wants to sustain the thing at all costs."
